Introducing the new Autism Speaks

Celebrating 15 years of progress, we're reintroducing ourselves and kicking off a campaign to make 2020 the “Year of Kindness”

Today, we’re celebrating our 15th birthday by unveiling a reimagined look and launching a commitment to make 2020 the “Year of Kindness” for people with autism – through one million acts of kindness big and small.

At Autism Speaks, our mission is to promote solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of people with autism and their families. In the 15 years since we were founded, the autism community has seen considerable change, and we have evolved along the way.

That’s why today, we want you to meet the new Autism Speaks

Reimagining the blue puzzle piece

It all begins with an evolution of the iconic blue puzzle piece. Reimagined to include a spectrum of colors in addition to our traditional blue, the new, more colorful logo signifies the diversity of perspectives and experiences with autism spectrum disorder and signals our deepened commitment to inclusivity.

The refresh of our look-and-feel also includes a new lower-case Autism Speaks in the logo, a palette of complimentary colors and the use of textures throughout materials. The new look is meant to be welcoming and inclusive, while remaining bold and confident in our work to support people with autism and their families. Each element of the redesign was thoughtfully developed to reflect not only our evolution as an organization, but our vision for the future.

The new Autism Speaks in action

As we roll out our new Autism Speaks, look for bolder, brighter colors across Autism Speaks platforms, and even more stories of people with autism, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, being told. In fact, you can check out some of the most recent stories, updated with new news from our community.

And while our mission remains the same, we invite you to get reacquainted with our work through some of our most commonly-accessed materials:

With 15 years of momentum and learning behind us, we chose this moment to reintroduce ourselves to the world - recognizing how far we've come and stepping into the future with hope, optimism and commitment to our community.

Our birthday wish: A kinder, more inclusive world

In concert with the rebrand, we’re launching our birthday wish: to create a kinder world for people with autism. We’re calling it our “Year of Kindness” initiative: challenging our community to complete one million acts of kindness by the end of 2020.

Acts of kindness can include everything from lending a helping hand to a stranger to volunteering at an Autism Speaks event to joining our #KindnessCounts challenge on social media.

We hope that this effort, together with our more inclusive look, will fuel an atmosphere of kindness that can last for many more years to come. And we invite you to join us!

Over the years, we have heard from the vast and diverse autism community - from supporters to our critics, and from those whose autism is their greatest strength to those whom autism can be a daily challenge. This new look aims to highlight the depth, breadth and infinite differences along the autism spectrum and to show our commitment to listening, evolving and reflecting those we serve.
