Autism Speaks is proud to announce this year’s recipients of its annual Local Impact Grants. These grants fund nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations that provide autistic people with social and educational experiences, enhancing their lives today and accelerating a spectrum of solutions.
This year, 71 organizations from 28 states will receive a combined $320,000 to expand their services which will impact an estimated 105,000 people in the autism community. Their programs will provide education and training, recreation, athletic and community services, young adult and adult services, assistance with sensory equipment and supportive technology and summer camp scholarships
This grant cycle opened April 15, 2022, and closed May 16, 2022. Grant recipients were chosen based on their ability to deliver a product or program that benefits the broader autism community beyond their local area. In addition, Autism Speaks prioritized programs that provide opportunities for people with varying levels of need and those in underserved communities.
All proposals were evaluated by volunteer, location-based reviewers consisting of people with autism, parents of autistics, educators, clinicians, and other members of the autism community. Top scoring applicants from each of our twelve regions, across the United States were then chosen from the pool of finalists and approved for funding by the Autism Speaks leadership team.
Since 2013, Autism Speaks has awarded over $3 million in Local Impact Grants to more than 500 organizations across the country serving tens of thousands of autistic people, their caregivers and families, teachers, therapists, and peers.
