Chief Science Officer Andy Shih speaks at WHO Mental Health Forum in Geneva

Dr. Andy Shih, chief science officer at Autism Speaks, will be participating in a session at the 2024 WHO Mental Health Forum, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland on October 9-10, 2024.  

This forum brings together global experts, advocates, policymakers and people with lived experience to explore the future of mental health care under the theme "Global Mental Health in Motion: Looking Back, Looking Forward." 

Dr. Shih will participate in a session titled "Advocacy and Policy Making: Perspectives and Experiences" alongside Majid Alabdulla, chairman of mental health services at HMC Qatar. This session will explore the challenges and opportunities of adopting a neurodiversity perspective in advocacy and policy.  

Drawing from Autism Speaks’ advocacy initiatives, Dr. Shih will present examples of successful, participatory, neurodiversity-inclusive policymaking. His participation underscores Autism Speaks’ commitment to advancing inclusive, impactful policies that improve the health and wellbeing of the global autism community.
